Acoma Pueblo Sky City

Acoma Pueblo Sky City is the OLDEST inhabited Pueblo in America.
Acoma Pueblo is built atop the “Enchanted Mesa”, a huge monolith (350 ft up) - It is known as such because of the awe that it creates.

 

Etymology

"The word "Acoma" is from the Acoma and Spanish word Acoma, or Acú, which means "the place that always was" or "People of the White Rock". "Pueblo" is Spanish for "village" or "town". Pueblo refers to both the people and the unique architecture of the Southwest.^[4] Some tribal elders assert that it means “a place that always was".^[9]"

There is a Mission Church constructed up there in 1629, all the materials were carried by the builders.
