On our way to Tucumcari in New Mexico, we saw how the new Highways “ruined” the livelihoods of some small towns that veer off Interstate 40. Some people just left EVERYTHING! Locked up and left -even their cars, the curtains, furniture and their boats with engines.

“It is said that an Apache warrior, Tocom and Kari, an Apache chief's daughter were in love. There was a fight for her hand in which Tocom was killed. In despair, Kari stabbed the victor and then herself. Then her father, distraut at the death of his daughter, stabbed himself to death while calling out Tocum-Kari.”
